BOOK REVIEW: BIZ WORLD

When I ordered biz world, I had many reservations about this book – how can a 300 odd pages book can be a complete business awareness guide, is it just another quiz book, is it worth the money (I know RS. 105 isn’t much, But with Indians money matters), being a quiz master would this book be any value addition to me. But after reading Biz world I can say-
“HANDA KA FUNDA” has done it again.

Biz world by Ravi Handa & Avinash Maurya, is a book that can at times amuse you with facts such as yahoo itself first resided on their founder jerry yang’s workstation named “akebono” while the software was loaded in Filo’s computer named “konishiki”, both are name of legendary sumo wrestlers or fact such as Microsoft use of “eat your own dog’s food policy” to test their products internally before launching them. This nifty compilation can be a source of inspiration for many quiz questions for bloggers who are running quiz blogs or people organizing quiz sessions, at any level.

There are two things that make a book: content and form, Biz world is not only rich in content, but comes with a format that makes it easy for the reader to start reading it from any page they want (definitely a plus point for people with paucity of time). I won’t say it covers everything about business world but the book has everything that you should & must know about major Global and Indian companies like history behind their names, the names of their founders and current heads, their taglines, etc whether you are a quizzer, preparing for a quiz contest or a MBA aspirant, this nifty compilation should be a mandatory bedside companion for anyone even remotely interested in business quizzing or business world. Prolific Googlers & Wikipedia miners may find many facts & content in the book as exactly in the same form available on web, but again it adds an air of veracity to the book & it’s the compilation of the book from different sources that makes the book unique. For me, this book is a “Wikipedia simplified”, answer to quizzing queries of everyone regardless of the platform they are competing in.
